Job Description

In this vital role, you will maintain positive relationships with customers and handle a steady volume of Property theft claims daily and work with the customer to resolve the claim from initial contact through settlement.?

Theft Adjusters spend 70 - 90% of their day on the phone working with customers to resolve theft losses in a timely manner.? This job requires efficient time management, as well as the ability to work in a fast paced team environment.? ?Employees use various office applications including a sophisticated computer system to document their interactions with the customer and pass important information to other areas of Allstate.

This job is responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling basic theft claims. This individual is responsible for conducting basic tier 1 investigations through interviewing involved parties. The individual gains experience in delivering compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention and maintains customer satisfaction during the entire claim process. The individual is capable of working independently, prioritizing the individual's own responsibilities, and managing the individual's own workload

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Makes and maintains a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met

    File Documentation and Reporting

  • Summarizes documents and enters into claim system notes

  • Documents a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision making process

    Coverage, Liability and Evaluation

  • Investigates, reviews, determines and verifies basic coverage/policy information

  • Provides basic coverage explanation to customer

    Negotiation and Settlement Guidance

  • Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices

  • Processes titles, including documentation, maintaining logs and contacting banks/lien holders

  • Prepares claims system evaluation

    Claim Payment Processes - Issuance and Authority

  • Processes claims payments

  • Initiates system generated checks and pays appropriate parties

Work Environment:? This position will require second shift hours in order to maintain coverage for our customers nationwide. Hours will be Monday - Friday from 1:30pm-10:00pm with rotational Saturdays.

Please note, there is a required 2-week training that will take place in Wheeling, IL.

Adjusters are required to maintain a valid state specific license to perform work duties. You may review state licensure requirements at www.NIPR.com

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or a minimum of?2 years?of customer service and/or adjusting experience

  • Ability to interpret and explain policies to customers

  • Self-starter, work in a team environment, excellent time management skills, and the ability to multi-task

  • Ability to navigate?and use computer systems

  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
