Associate Building Engineer- Intern

Job Description
Building Engineer Associate III Interns are developing the technical skills and behaviors required to support facility maintenance. Interns will work under the supervision of tenured Allstate Building Engineers and will be expected to perform maintenance actions across multiple disciplines. Areas of maintenance exposure include electrical/electronic: low/medium voltage, mechanical: pumps/valves/towers/plumbing; HVAC; A/V; Building Automation; and other maintenance duties as assigned. Interns are expected to be currently engaged in career technical training in technical trades, or have recent military technical training and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and inspection of buildings, grounds, related systems, and structures
Operation of some of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and computerized equipment
Operation of computerized/automated systems (i.e., Niagara Tridium BAS system)
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
Diagnose malfunctions and perform corrective action
Maintain proper supply inventory for the buildings and related systems
Work with hand tools and basic test equipment
Install wire/cable for telephone and computers
Maintain documentation of all wiring/fiber connections, upon completion of changes
Establish positive customer service support
Annual S.C.B.A. Mask Fit Testing (if required)
Attend internal/external technical courses/seminars related to building engineer work
Communicate with management, both written and verbally
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate mechanical aptitude with regard to Engineering tasks & responsibilities.
General working knowledge of electrical, heating and cooling, mechanical, plumbing systems.
General working knowledge of kitchen equipment, pumps, gas engines, high/low voltage, UPS equipment, and distribution
Knowledge of Federal, State, and OSHA regulations and guidelines
Applicants should be engaged in accredited Engineering-related training or provide documentation of recent military technical training/job specialties with application to facility maintenance. Completed training should be documented by transcript or training certicates. Military technical training/job specialty should be supported by appropriate military documentation.
The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
